In Prayagraj, a significant fire erupted at the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 due to a cylinder explosion on Sunday. The incident took place in Uttar Pradesh and caused substantial damage to the tents of Gita Press. Thankfully, no casualties have been reported.

According to officials, the fire started after two cylinders exploded in Sector 19 of the Maha Kumbh Mela. This led to a massive blaze that spread across multiple tents. Bhaskar Mishra, In-charge of the Akhara Police Station, confirmed that firefighters were deployed to control the fire.

Prompt action by the authorities helped in containing the fire, preventing it from spreading further. The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, was immediately informed about the situation. He issued instructions for swift relief and rescue efforts, and senior officials were dispatched to the scene. CM Yogi Adityanath also personally visited the site to oversee the operations.

The official X handle of Maha Kumbh 2025 expressed sorrow over the incident, posting, "Very sad! The fire incident at #MahaKumbh has shocked everyone. The administration is ensuring immediate relief and rescue operations. We pray Maa Ganga for everyone's safety." A video clip was shared, showing thick black smoke rising from the affected area.

 

An official statement from the Chief Minister's Office mentioned that fire tenders were present, and the situation was brought under control. Senior officers, acting on the Chief Minister's instructions, ensured that the fire was extinguished.

Ravindra Kumar, the District Magistrate of Prayagraj, provided more details, saying, "The fire broke out at 4.30 pm in Sector 19 in the tent of Gita Press. The fire spread to the nearby 10 tents. The police and administration team reached the spot. The fire has been extinguished. There is no information on any casualty. The situation is under control."
